DESCRIPTION & HISTORY

During our first encounter, we estimated that this manta was roughly 2.9 metres in width, from wing-tip to wing-tip. Based on the size of his claspers, we class this manta as a sexually mature adult.

He has a medium length tail, and a small scar on his right pectoral fin. Additionally, the tip of his right pectoral fin is missing (about 10 inches has been removed). It's not clear whether this injury was caused by a predatory attack, or entanglement in fishing line / a boat strike.
